Barcelona Maritime Museum is housed in the Royal Shipyards, or Drassanes Reials, the best-conserved example of Gothic civil architecture in the world. First opened in 1929, the museum contains important collections that illustrate Catalan maritime culture and help visitors to learn more about Catalonia’s seafaring history. The packetboat Santa Eulàlia is museum’s flagship, providing a link between the centre itself and the sea. The Santa Eulàlia is moored at the Moll de Bosch i Alsina (Moll de la Fusta) in the Port Vell and is open to the public every day, except when it is sailing the seven seas as an ambassador for the museum, the city and the country as a whole.
