Cable Car (Telefèrics de Barcelona)
Travel above the port and the city of Barcelona from Sant Sebastià Tower, in Barceloneta, to the Miramar vantage point in Montjuïc.
The cable car was designed to link the 1929 Universal Exhibition in Montjuïc with its seafaring section. However, works were not completed until 1931.
During the Civil War, it was shut down, the cables were removed, and Sant Sebastià and Jaume I towers became strategic points for defending the port.
In 1963, it was put into operation again, and, since then, it only stopped transporting travellers whilst the towers were being restored over a period of two years (1995-1996).
The journey, which lasts for about 10 minutes at a height of around 70 metres, offers spectacular views of the port and the city.
